Brussels, whose service industry is the most important, has a huge range of services and service providers in the financial sector: banks (65 of which are foreign), stock exchange, insurance, leasing and investment fund firms, holding companies, etc.
- Euronext: Brussels is a member of Euronext, which covers the stock exchanges of Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris. Euronext offers market users an integrated solution on a European scale for negotiation and clearing as well as for DVP. In 2001, Euronext also incorporated derivatives from the London Stock Exchange.
- Brussels is the reference centre for international banking transfers and clearing, due to the presence of two major operators on these markets: Swift and Euroclear.
